Teachers - Fine Arts
I was born in Calgary, AB, lived there until I was 12 years old, and then moved to an acreage near a tiny little hamlet called Conrich, AB. There was lots of trouble to be found there: riding horses, motorbikes, skidoos and quads, playing with ducks, chickens, rabbits, sheep, llamas, ostriches, emus, gophers, snakes, throwing knives, shooting guns, digging holes, building forts, riding tractors, playing sports, and lighting fires.
After high school I travelled Canada for a year in a Christian band called 'Sent' and then began a long university career. I have a Bachelor of Arts with a major in music and a minor in psychology from Concordia University College of Alberta in Edmonton, a Masters of Music in conducting from the University of Calgary, and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta and Medicine Hat College collaborative program.
I love to travel! Countries I've been to include: USA, Cuba, Britain, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Monaco, Spain, Italy, Vatican City, Greece, Romania, Hungary, Switzerland, Germany, Morocco, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. I volunteered in Uganda for a month with the African Children's Choir teaching music, Bible stories, sports, and games.
In addition to teaching at St. Mary's I am also the Director of Choral Music at Medicine Hat College's Conservatory of Music and Dance where I teach the MHC Adult Choir, and Girls' Choir. I also enjoy musical theatre and have played Kenickie in Grease and looking forward to having another role in a musical very soon.
When I'm not making music I enjoy spending time with my wife (come check out the wall in my classroom - she made it look cool), disc golfing at Central Park, cooking, drinking beer, and singing with friends!
I love being on staff at St. Mary's! Come say hi! I take my coffee black.
